Between Europe and Middle-East, Istanbul was a great place to discuss convergence of services and cultures. There is no 3G service in Turkey yet but launch is coming. We had Christine Perey of Perey Research to introduce here view on the market - she brought new video eyewear gadgets with her and we had a look at the best of YouTube on my iPOD. We enjoyed the great food and weather by the Bosphorus. Before flying back we had a look at manuscripts and calligraphy from the Ottoman empire at Topkapi palace - another form of blogging.

HP Video Days in Koln and Frankfurt
Spent two days visiting operators and reviewing their 3G video services deployment experience. Very professional exchanges. And also great food, beer arranged by our colleagues from HP Germany. We had the presence of Pedro Quintas from Collab who shared his experience with 3G video contact centers in Portugal, Spain and the impact as a new marketing and support services. I've recorded some of his key points below.

Millia-MipTV, Cannes, April 2007
For the second year, we spent a week in Cannes with colleagues from HP and Voxsurf to explore services combining 3G video and broacast TV such as TV participation. Compared with last year, the whole industry is talking about "new media" and 360 degree content distribution combining TV, Web and mobile phones to serve communities. The business models are influenced by changing on-demand and advertising sponsoring. HP OpenCall was presenting mobile video-blogging such as 3Gvidcast and participation TV such as BBC's match of the day Your Shout! services. Other cool demos by voxsurf here. A lot of the talk was on the experiences with DVB-H so far and the web-on-line communities such as Second Life.
